Borut Razinger’s refined Gemstones Collection

Borut Razinger (1936-2006) was a chemist and a qualified gemologist. He wrote professional and popular articles in the field of gemology. He participated in numerous exhibitions where he helped visitors to identify the authenticity of precious and ornamental gemstones. He is the co-author of the first gemological terminological dictionary, which is the foundation of gemology as a science of precious and ornamental gems in Slovenia. He also collected a very diverse collection of precious gemstones, which was acquired by the Slovenian Museum of Natural History in 2023. This unique gemological collection is an important addition to the museum’s diverse geological collections.

 

The exhibition is on display from 4 December 2024 to 3 April 2025
